Postal Museum, London

Following the successful completion of the Royal Mail Mount Pleasant project for the Royal Mail Group, GBE Converge were awarded the contract to design, supply, install and commission all life safety and security systems to the new Postal Museum in central London.

This unique, new heritage attraction, designed by architects Feildon Clegg Bradley Studios, will provide two experiences in one: The Postal Museum & Mail Rail. Visitors will have the chance to explore 500 years of social history and travel 70 feet under London to ride the Post Office’s forgotten railway. The new Postal Museum explores centuries of inspiring and surprising British history through the colourful lens of the postal service. The client, the Postal Heritage Trust, an independent charity created to protect and share the postal Service history, is closely linked to Royal Mail Group.

GBE Converge worked with partners GENT by Honeywell for all fire alarm control equipment, fire detection and visual warning devices, Baldwin Boxall for emergency voice communication, disabled person’s toilet alarms and PAVA, C-Tec will supply the audio frequency induction loop [AFILS] systems. GBE Converge’s security partners will be BPT for video door entry, Xplan for access control, CCTV will be supplied by HIKvision and Honeywell will be providing intruder detection equipment.

Mike Parsons, GBE Converge Business Development Manager, commented “Having worked closely with the Royal Mail Group on their Mount Pleasant project we’re delighted to be trusted with another, albeit very different, high profile postal related project and a building that will be enjoyed by large visitor numbers over the coming years.”
