GBE Converge designed, supplied, installed and commissioned all life safety and security systems to the new One Bedford Avenue development in London’s West End after being appointed by Mace MEP.
The £33m scheme has been designed by architects Bennetts Associates, on behalf of client Exemplar, and will consist of 115,000 sq ft of high-end retail and office accommodation. The development which replaces two outdated office blocks was completed in early 2017 and launched the redevelopment of the surrounding area, in anticipation of Crossrail’s completion in 2018. The building has been designed to deliver BREEAM excellent.
GBE Converge took a leading role in developing the design to meet the technical and aesthetic requirements of the life safety and security installation on this project. GBE Converge’s implementation included CCTV (cameras in a custom finish), external RFID access control card readers incorporated within video door entry panels and fire detection devices provided in a black finish.
GBE Converge worked with a range of partners on the project. Gent by Honeywell supplied the fire alarm and detection equipment along with the audio visual warning devices. Baldwin Boxall provided the emergency voice communication and disabled toilet alarm systems. Access control was supplied by Xplan with HIK Vision providing CCTV. C-tec were used for the Audio-Frequency Induction Loop System and Castel for the video door entry system. Honeywell supplied the intruder detection and alarm equipment.
GBE Converge Managing Director Jason Buttle commented ‘We were very excited to be working with Mace on a high-quality, landmark building, and to have taken such a leading role in designing all the life safety and security systems for the project, which is a great achievement.”
GBE Converge completed their works in January 2017.
