Gloucester Rugby Club, Gloucester

With an injection of £10 million towards its future, Gloucester Rugby Club began building a new 7,000 capacity seated stand which incorporated a state of the art conferencing facility at the Kingsholm ground, available seven days a week.

"We have found that the professionalism shown by GBE Converge and their staff enabled us to progress quickly and on schedule and thanks to their support we opened for full operation as per the original quote." Sean Roberts, Operations Director Gloucester Rugby Club

The new facility needed to include: telecoms, IT, data, audio visual, Public Address, electronic security and fire systems. The brief required the contractor to successfully reflect the ambition of the club whilst also being innovative, reliable and cost effective.

Instead of employing several contractors to carry out this work, the club appointed GBE Converge to provide a total, in house technology infrastructure solution.

The Solution

GBE Converge came up with a detailed plan that fully met the needs of Gloucester Rugby Club whilst allowing them to have their new building fully operational within the specified time and budget.

IT Support & Disaster Recovery – Supplying, configuring and supporting the clubs servers and information systems using the latest in network monitoring and disaster recovery on both match and non-match days.

Network Cabling – Over 400 Cat5e data points were installed in the new stand, offices and hospitality areas.

Wireless Internet – Working in partnership with ARUBA, GBE Converge oversaw the installation of a new, highly encrypted, secure, fully zoned system, allowing wireless access for authorised club personnel and a partitioned open channel for the world’s press and conferencing delegates.

Public Address System – Working in partnership with Bosch, GBE Converge installed a new multi-zone system, including speakers in all public areas with external points throughout the stadium.

AV Distribution – The installation of a new TV and AV distribution system that provided a single control point for all screens in the whole ground.
