The InterCity Express Programme (IEP) is a £5.7bn investment by the Department for Transport to replace existing rolling stock on the Great Western and East Coast Main Lines. The IEP trains will be manufactured out of a brand new, state-of-the-art Rail Vehicle Manufacturing Facility in the North East and the project included investment in new and refurbished train maintenance centres across the country.
The Stoke Gifford facility in Bristol houses and maintains the IEP fleet and ensures the rolling stock delivers the optimum level of service to fare paying passengers on the route.
