GBE Converge was been awarded the contract to design, supply, install and commission the fire system and alarms as part of the £19 million scheme for the University of Bristol’s renovation of the Grade II listed Fry Building.
The scheme provides a new main entrance, a raised external terrace, a new atrium and a new 140-seat
lecture theatre. Services to improve energy efficiency and environmental performance include photovoltaic panels as well as new plant and services provided throughout. Balfour Beatty was main contractor on the project.
The 10,335 sq. m Fry Building is the University’s home for the School of Mathematics. The development is a key part of the University’s £525m capital investment programme over 10 years.
GBE Converge worked with partner Gent to integrate the new fire system into the existing network along with new Disabled Refuge and WC Alarms.
