GBE Converge have been appointed by Crown House Technologies to design, supply, install and commission the fire systems, ASD and disabled refuge as part of a £350 million investment in a new hospital at Llanfrechfa in Cwmbran, which will serve the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.
The 470 bed, 55,000m2 new build hospital will provide complex specialist and critical care treatment for over 600,000 people in South-East Wales and includes a 24-hour acute assessment unit and emergency department.
Crown House Technologies appointed GBE Converge for the Fire Package which will be completed using specialist products from GENT, XTRALIS and Baldwin Boxall.

One of our key challenges was to ensure that the compliance was to BS5839 along with the NHS Fire Codes. This involved our specialist team reviewing the drawings and 3D models to provide the optimum design solution”.
The project, which is being constructed by principal contractor Laing O’Rourke and consultants Gleeds, is due to be completed by the autumn of 2020 and receive the first patients during the spring of 2021.
