GBE Converge have recently commenced work at the new Margam Green Energy Plant in South Wales. The facility will have the potential to manage 250,000 tonnes of waste wood that is currently disposed of to landfill. It will generate enough electricity to power approximately 75,000 homes saving approximately 270,000 tonnes of CO2 per annum. This multi-million-pound investment into the Welsh economy will help meet the country’s renewable energy targets whilst also strengthening the country’s energy security.

Appointed by SES Engineering Services Bristol, GBE Converge are responsible for the design, supply, installation and commissioning of all fire and specialist thermal imaging cameras, gas suppression systems, fire telephones and disabled alarms.

Due to the complex industrial structure of the building GBE Converge have used 3D modelling to assist with the design phase. They will be working with partners Gent for the supply of all fire systems equipment, FIKE for gas suppression, FOCUS 2000 for thermal cameras, Xtralis for smoke detection equipment and Baldwin Boxall for disabled fire telephones.

The construction of the plant started in February 2015 and it is scheduled to enter commercial operation in mid-2017.
