The Challenge
Gloucester Academy, Gloucester’s newest secondary school, provides capacity for 1200 pupils in a new £15 million building project. To design and build such an important new building for the community was a significant new build project for Gloucestershire.
From the start of the project, the project team responsible for building the new school, Axiom Building Services and Kier Moss, knew they needed an experienced team to supply and build the robust and comprehensive IT infrastructure required. With the goals of the school to specialise in digital technology and computing, the IT infrastructure contractor would need experience in providing state-of-the art facilities, particularly in the education sector.
The Solution
“We chose GBE Converge because they’re respected and reliable” said Jim Stokes, Operations Manager at Gloucester Academy. “They have good education experience and they’ve worked on public sector projects which gave us peace of mind.” Such confidence was well placed, with GBE Converge working on the school’s infrastructure from the beginning and bringing in the project on time, on schedule and on budget.
It was a project that the GBE Converge team particularly relished with Matt Green for Converge adding, “This was a great opportunity for GBE Converge to offer real value to the client and to demonstrate everything we can do, from cabling infrastructure to wireless to VoIP. It’s also fantastic to be part of a new build project of this scope right from the beginning and watch it grow, particularly one that will be such an improvement to our local community.”
The school is now open with a range of impressive facilities from the science labs to the art rooms benefitting many local students, supported by a robust and reliable IT infrastructure from GBE Converge.
“GBE Converge have been a pleasure to work with throughout the project. They were present at all of the meetings, and that single point of contact reassured us that the installation of a reliable and effective ICT infrastructure would be completed in time for the Academy to open.” Jim Stokes, Operations Manager, Gloucester Academy.
