When Gloucestershire Care Services and 2gether Trust combined to become Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust in 2020, GBE Converge successfully implemented a rationalisation of their ageing and differing IT infrastructure. The technology used was Nutanix, the market leading Hyper Converged Technology software that manages the IT environment ensuring there is no service disruption if a server or storage device fails.
The Trust have recently appointed GBE Converge to expand the Nutanix environment, with the £1m investment due to be completed in the first half of 2022. The project includes Disaster Recover provision at a separate location, moving legacy Business Intelligence servers not previously migrated to Nutanix and introducing a virtual desktop environment. This will allow desktop services to be managed centrally, where users can use less intensive desktop and laptop devices, reducing the reliance on more substantial and expensive hardware.
GBE Converge’s technology design and understanding of the Trust’s requirements will ensure a robust infrastructure is in place for the next 5 years.
Jason Hillman, IT Operations Manager at the Trust commented “GBE converge are now our trusted partner for providing us with support services for our infrastructure. We have complete confidence in their expertise, consultancy and project implementation services and we look forward to working with them on this project.”
